BEEBONG
Author: Len Thurmond
What the heck was that?
I glanced over in the direction of the eerie red numbers glowing mischievously on the digital time machine. That obnoxious plastic monster that ruins my peaceful nights every morning with it’s horrible buzzing voice.
4 AM…What the heck?
BEEBONG…
Oh, Christ! I got mail!
I was up late last night writing an article and must have forgot to turn off the computer. I was pretty angry and wanted to get it down while it was fresh in my head.
Ya see,… About a week ago, I made my subscribers an offer, and dozens of people took me up on it, and rightfully so. It was a great opportunity. Quite frankly, I was surprised that everybody didn’t jump on it! Anyway..
There’s this marketing Ebook that’s taken the internet by storm It’s being sold all over the net for the suggested retail price of seventeen dollars and has been bought by tens of thousands of people at that price!
Well, it seems ya also get the resale rights, along with your purchase. You can do with it as you please and keep all the profit for yourself.
Now, I, like everyone else, am sellin’ this book all over the place for the suggested seventeen bucks. But, ole’ softie that I am, I decided to give my folks a treat and let them have it for half price.
Well like I said, I got dozens of takers, but there was this one ole’ boy that PO’d me so bad, that I had to write an article about it and that’s why I left the computer on, and that’s why I’m sittin’ here at four in the morning listenin’ to ‘BEEBONG’…
Oh well, I reckon now, that I’ve cooled off a bit, and seein’ as how I’M UP ALREADY, I oughta toss that first draft and try again. The whole situation does bring up a good subject.
If you want to be successful, You Gotta…
APPROACH BUSINESS MATTERS IN A BUSINESS LIKE MANNER!
Let me give ya a little background to the reason for this sudden ‘Revelation’ of mine.
Of the dozens of satisfied customers that downloaded this book, I got this email from one of them that was obviously havin’ trouble with the download.
He had evidently written me a couple of times, about his problems, but I never got the messages.
Finally, I got one in which he wrote…
Dear Len:
I have still not had a response from you regarding the problems I am having with my download.
Please contact me as soon as possible. Thank you.
Sincerely,
Well folks, I wrote back to him the second I got this email…
I wrote…
Hi,
I’m truly sorry that I haven’t responded. Truth is, this is the first email that I have received from you, so I’m not sure what problem you’re having. If for some reason you had problems downloading it, go to the following address and download it again.
It really is a good book. I think you’ll be glad you ordered it.
Read the instructions before clicking on the download link. If you just click on the link, it will download into your browser, but to save it to your hard drive , follow the instructions below the link.
If this is not the problem, or if this does not solve your problem, please let me know and I will do whatever it takes to rectify the situation.
Sorry about the confusion,
Len
Well, I figured that would take care of it, and sure enough, I got an email back, sayin’ that he was sorry for his tone, but that he was just frustrated and the download was goin’ fine this time. He said that he had figured out why I hadn’t gotten his first email (he used the wrong address), apologized again for his tone, and that was that.
Or so I thought…
Shortly thereafter, I got this email…
Len:
This is the THIRD message I have sent to you regarding my purchase from your link. I paid my $8.50 and downloaded it into Adobe Acrobat Reader. I cannot open the file. I keep getting the message, “There was an error in opening this document. There was an error in reading this document (107)”. I don’t know what the problem is but I’ve never had problems reading anything else in Adobe. Could it be because it’s an E-Book? I don’t have Adobe E-Book Reader and if that’s what’s needed you should specify that before people spend their money. I am very upset because I feel I have been scammed out of $8.50 which may not be alot to you but it is to me. If I do not get a response from you with this E-Mail. I will contact Clickbank and Yanik Silver himself.
Please respond ASAP.
Sincerely,
Now, Twenty years ago, if someone had called me a thief and threatened me, I’d have popped him in the mouth, but I’ve mellowed in my old age. My wife was right proud of me when I sent this reply…
Dear Sir,
I have reversed the charges and refunded your $8.50.
The downloaded file must be downloaded to a place on your hard drive other than Adobe Reader. Most people download files to their desktop to make it simple to find them. Then, by double clicking on the downloaded file, on your desktop, it will automatically open up in Adobe Acrobat. You need to use Acrobat3 or higher. Previous versions will not work. The download site clearly states this and even gives you the link to get Acrobat3 for free, should you need it.
In almost six years of marketing on the Internet, I have never received such a nasty or threatening letter from anyone. I have now received two such letters from you, in as many days. Such temper tantrums are uncalled for and intolerable. I have therefore, removed you from my subscription base, as well. You will not be receiving ‘The Affiliate Review’ any longer, as I would not want you to be tempted to take me, or any of my advertisers, up on any future offers that may be made.
I am not a Thief or a rip off artist, and would have bent over backwards to help you resolve this problem, had you only approached it in a professional manner. Of the dozens of people who took me up on this offer, you are the only one who had a problem with it.
A word of advice, my friend: I would suggest that you learn to approach business matters in a business like manner, or $8.50 will always be a lot of money to you.
Sincerely,
Len Thurmond
Yea I know, it was a bit strong, but he made me mad.
Truth be told, I did have one other customer who had a problem with the download, but that person approached it in a business like manner and the problem was quickly solved. Another happy customer!
Now, I know how frustrating computers can be, havin’ gone a few rounds with mine over the years, and usually gettin’ KO’d in the process, but jumpin’ on the ones that are there to help you, is not the way to solve your problems.
I value my customers and my subscribers above all else, except my family, and I would have done anything to solve this guy’s problem, but the old adage “You can catch more flies with honey than you can with vinegar”, holds true in any kind of business dealings, especially on the Internet.
Now, this ole’ boy probably figures he got one over on me, ’cause he got his copy for free, Assuming he can figure out whatever his problem was, but now he’s gonna miss out on all the things that I have planned for my subscribers in the future, not to mention all the offerings of our advertisers.
Seems to me, it’s his loss!
You can solve almost any problem that comes up, if you approach it properly. Most successful businessmen (I ‘spose that ought to be “businesspersons”), will go out of their way to help a customer that’s nice to them, but pitch a temper tantrum at them, and you’ll find yourself out in the cold, faster than a Eskimo with a busted Igloo!
There’s no place in business for that kind of childish behavior.
Always remember…
If you want to be successful, You Gotta…
APPROACH BUSINESS MATTERS IN A BUSINESS LIKE MANNER!
Well , I don’t know about you, But I feel better!
Thanks for listenin’,
Len…
